Bromley Safeguarding Children Board

If you are concerned about a child, please call Children’s Social Care on 020 8461 7309 during office hours or 030 0303 8671 (out of hours). If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

Welcome to the Bromley Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB)’s website. The BSCB includes representatives from schools, health commissioners and providers, Local Authority Children’s Services, Metropolitan Police, probation services, CAFCASS, voluntary sector as well as lay members. Our main role is to coordinate what is done locally to protect and promote the welfare of children and young people in the borough and to monitor the effectiveness of those arrangements.

We strongly promote that safeguarding children is everybody’s responsibility. Children can only be safeguarded from abuse or neglect if agencies work well together, follow procedures and guidance based on sound practice and are well informed and trained. In addition we want to make sure parents, carers, children and young people and the community have access to information about a wide range of child safety issues.

We hope that this website is useful to anyone who wants information about the Board’s work and how to keep children and young people safe from harm.

The BSCB's main objectives are to promote good practice and working together in safeguarding to:
• protect children from maltreatment
• prevent impairment of children’s health or development
• promote the provision of safe and effective care

Our meetings are a key way in which we aim to meet the Board's statutory requirements; the main Board meets four times a year and the Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring Sub Group also meets quarterly.

The BSCB Board sets the strategic direction and safeguarding priorities reflecting both national and local priorities.
